Banyan Tree introduces a variety of new and unusual items
that are great as gifts or some serious self-indulgence.
First is potpourri straight from the English countryside.
|
|
You can buy by the scoop and it comes in four different
fragrances. As well as smelling heavenly, it looks really
attractive. Refresher oils are also available to re-scent the
potpourri.
Other scented treats include glass and silver 'bubbles'
which burn fragrance oils. You can even create your own
signature scent from a selection of oils such as ylang ylang,
basil, jasmine and tea tree oil. Oil burners shaped like
glass pigs are also available.
Due to requests from customers, the Banyan Tree have also
started stocking candles of all shapes and sizes. Made in
England, they are smokeless and non-drip, and come in styles
such as tapers, spirals, pillars, tealights to suit
every occasion. Beeswax candles packed in reusable foil
containers make perfect gifts. There are even room scenters
which burn for 8-10 hours! Also in stock are citronella
candles that smell refreshing and helps to keep mosquitoes
away. To hold the candles, handblown glass holders help set
the stage for relaxation.

From eastern Europe there is a range of clear glass diningware
with embossed shell designs, such as goblets, napkin rings or
underplates as well as other standard items. And from Belarus
are vibrantly coloured handblown bottles that are
eye-catching and inexpensive (from $80 up).
To complete that country look you could try a range of handpainted ceramics
from renowned designer, Suzanne Katkhuda, who supplies many
top London stores. Two flower patterns (anemone and clematis)
are available in dinner and tea services. And from Persia comes
some bright turquoise ceramics with matching glassware.

For the man who has everything, try some unusual gifts from
England. Shadow boxes filled with memorabilia of selected
sports such tennis, rugby and horse racing contain collectibles
like programmes, trophies, gloves, tickets.

 |
|
There are also two new lines of cufflinks to complement the
current sterling silver range. One is made from clear and frosted
glass, and another is made of ceramics on different themes.

A Bright Idea
Direct from London's top lighting experts comes one of the most
novel lighting ideas - silk lights. Brightly coloured silk is
delicately draped over wire frames in a variety of free form
shapes. The lights were inspired by the palace domes in
St. Petersburg, Russia, an inspiration to artists for decades.
The lights are available in different colours and styles (hanging
, standard or table lamps). The light they throw are soft, and
tinted. If you want a magical or surreal feel to your room these
lights are perfect.

For something more zanier, animal print lamps in three designs
(zebra, lizard and tiger) are fun to have around.
