A reading place requires directed lighting. For example, an adjustable floor lamp which provides a dazzle free light. Picture lighting not only provides a functional lighting, but also a good mood lighting. Both spotlights and normal picture lamps can be used. Many picture lamps have halogen bulbs as a light source. Remember that halogen bulbs must have protective glass, otherwise the light can cause the colours in the picture to fade. By the stereo bench and the video you may need a strong directive light to read small text on records and covers. A halogen lamp or similar lighting will be of help. The sofa group becomes even more cozy if you hang a pendant lamp over the coffee table. It provides a unifying light. Bookshelf lighting gives a practical and an appealing impression. Maybe you choose a built-in glass-door-cabinet lighting, or spotlights, which light up the whole shelf from outside. In which case, the spotlights should be at least 60 cm from the shelf. It is preferable to have a weak lamp by the TV. If you watch television in a dark room the contrast between the bright screen and the dark room can cause the eyes to become tired.
